The Attic Ladder Access Cover blocks the escape of energy and seals the insulation envelope in your attic that is needed to maintain a constant temperature and humidity in your living area. Easy to install and easy to use. The attic ladder cover will fit over any opening that is less than 35 inches by 63 inches. The lid weighs approximately 7 lb. and the frame approximately 5 lb. The frame around the attic access opening also serves as a barrier to keep insulation from entering into your living area. When you enter your attic through a pull down ladder or hatch opening, you simply grasp the handle(s) of the Attic Ladder Access Cover lid, pick it up and set it on the attic floor. The lid has a unique lip which fits securely into the frame. Just pick up the lid when you enter and exit the attic. When it closes, you can feel the snug fit. You create a tight air seal without having to secure any tightening straps. This attic hatch cover is both a thermal barrier as well as an air sealant. The thermal resistance value is R-30. Energy Star recommended It meets the standards of CFR 440 App. A for the Weatherization Assistance Program as well as the standards for the International Builders Code to include flame spread index and smoke developed index.
